Hundreds of programs exist, and billions of dollars are being spent by both public and private parties, to promote and supply information on food. The Federal Trade Commission, along with other agencies, is attempting to coordinate these efforts.

Food and Drug Administration | The Food and Drug Administration should be aware of the committee that should target information through a variety of methods to all segments of the public, particularly those with special food needs--the elderly, pregnant women, lactating mothers, athletes, children, and others. Some aproaches are (1) food labeling, (2) school programs, (3) media advertising, (4) reinforcement by the health professions, (5) point-of-sale leaflets, and (6) package inserts. |
