Highlights

Identification and resolution of existing and emerging water resources problems in the United States requires focusing on those programs and activities concerning water resources planning, management, and development designed to provide adequate water supplies and to meet present and future demands. This study examined: the Federal role in water resource management; the President's water policy actions; water supply and use trends projected from 1975-2000; actual and anticipated water supply problems, including pollution, flooding, and shortages; and the optimal integration of water quality and water supply programs.
