Cost of Implementing the Recommendations of the American Indian Policy Review Commission

An estimate of the cost of implementing the recommendations of the American Indian Policy Review Commission's tentative final report was requested. One part of the Commission's report dealt with estimates of cost and/or savings for implementing 11 recommendations to streamline the management organization and efficiency of the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Attempt was made to determine how such cost estimates were arrived at. There were no data to support the cost identified. For the numerous other recommendations, essential information needed to derive cost estimates was not developed.
