Highlights

The Acting Comptroller of the General Services Administration requested GAO's opinion on whether the Military Personnel and Civilian Employees' Claim Act of 1964 may be applied to claims to federal employees for personal losses incurred when annual leave is canceled due to the press of government business. In the absence of a specific voucher or claim, GAO did not issue a formal decision at this time. However, GAO noted that its research has not revealed any law or regulation under which it may authorize the payment of additional personal travel expenses incurred by employees resulting from an emergency callback to duty.
