[Claim for Missing Coast Guard Member's Retired Pay]

The Coast Guard requested a decision regarding a missing retired member's wife's claim for retirement pay that accrued prior to a court order that declared her husband dead. GAO held that in cases involving missing persons, it would assume that death occurred on the court-determined date of death. Accordingly, the claim was allowed.
