Highlights

A firm protested a Customs Service sole-source contract award for x-ray equipment, contending that Customs improperly determined that the awardee was the only responsible source capable of meeting its needs. GAO held that Customs: (1) reasonably determined that only the awardee could meet its requirements, since it gave the protester an opportunity to demonstrate its product; and (2) complied with the statutory procedural requirements for making a sole-source award. Accordingly, the protest was denied.
