[Payment of Reenlistment Bonuses to Air Force Members' Survivors]

The Air Force requested a decision concerning the payment of unearned portions of selective reenlistment bonuses (SRB) to the survivors of two deceased Air Force members. GAO held that the applicable regulations did not require a determination of whether a member's death was due to misconduct to include the unpaid SRB balance in the member's final pay account. Accordingly, the Air Force should allow the payment of the entire reenlistment bonuses.
