[Request for Relief of Accountable Officer]

The U.S. Secret Service requested relief of an accountable officer's liability for theft of public money in his charge, contending that his hotel room was burglarized in spite of his taking appropriate precautions. GAO held that the officer did not act negligently. Accordingly, relief was granted.
