Highlights

A Navy employee requested a waiver of collection of salary overpayments the Navy made after it notified her of the error. The Navy advised that it: (1) made one correct salary payment after it notified her of the error; and (2) subsequently reverted to the erroneous overpayments. The claimant contended that: (1) the Navy did not inform her that the salary reduction was temporary; and (2) she repeatedly asked the cognizant personnel office to investigate the overpayment. GAO held that the claimant was not entitled to a collection waiver, since she was aware of the overpayment. Accordingly, the claim was denied.
