[BLM Employee's Request for Waiver of Salary Overpayment]

A Bureau of Land Management (BLM) employee appealed the partial waiver of erroneous salary overpayments he received after his promotion. GAO had approved waiver of the overpayments through January 1984, since the: (1) employee did not become aware of the overpayments until January 1984; and (2) erroneous payments occurred through administrative error. GAO held that the employee was liable for the overpayments which occurred after June 1984, since he accepted them even though he knew they were erroneous. Accordingly, the request for total waiver was denied, and the waiver was extended through June 1984.
