Highlights

The Department of Labor (DOL) requested a decision regarding a former employee's entitlement to reimbursement for real estate expenses he incurred incident to a cancelled transfer. GAO held that the employee was entitled to reimbursement because: (1) DOL determined that the cancellation was in the federal government's best interest, since another agency offered the employee a position in his original location; and (2) the employee remained in government service for 12 months following the transfer's cancellation. Accordingly, the claim was allowed.
