Highlights

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) requested a decision concerning a former employee's claim for reimbursement of certain relocation and travel expenses she incurred incident to a transfer. GAO held that the claimant was not entitled to reimbursement for: (1) temporary lodging costs, since she failed to submit the required lodging receipts; (2) unexpired lease expenses, since her family did not vacate their leased premises during the period for which she claimed reimbursement; (3) temporary quarters expenses for her husband, since he did not accompany her to the new duty station; (4) the rental deposit at the new duty station, since she terminated her employment; or (5) the rental expense for a self-storage facility, since she failed to provide adequate documentation of her storage expenses. GAO also held that the claimant was entitled to a miscellaneous expense allowance, since she established a new residence because of a transfer. Accordingly, the claims were denied, except for the miscellaneous expense claim, which was allowed.
