[Request for Reconsideration of Claims Group's Settlement of Claim Concerning Shipment of Air Force Member's Household Goods]

The Air Force requested reconsideration of the Claims Group's partial waiver of a member's indebtedness for excess costs he incurred in transporting his household goods to his retirement residence. The Claims Group had used the storage weight, which was less than the line-haul weight, to determine the employee's indebtedness. The Air Force contended that the line-haul weight was the incorrect weight to use. GAO held that the Air Force determination was binding, absent evidence of future error. Accordingly, the original decision was overruled.
