Highlights

A Federal Aviation Administration employee appealed the Claims Group disallowance of his claim. The claimant requested reimbursement of the cost for temporary storage of his household goods for a 1-month period beyond that allowed by Federal Regulations. Shortly after the employee was transferred, he was directed to return for temporary duty at his old duty station. As a result of the temporary duty, the employee contended that his change of station move was interrupted, and he found it necessary to keep his household goods in storage for an additional month. Under regulations, the employee was authorized 60 days temporary storage of household goods at Government expense. GAO has no authority to waive or modify this regulation and cannot make exceptions to its provisions. Accordingly, the Claims Group determination was sustained.
