Highlights

An Air Force Staff Sergeant appealed the denial of his claim for moving expenses. The Staff Sergeant had requested a change of assignment from 2-bedroom to 3-bedroom Government quarters after the birth of his third child. The Staff Sergeant was informed that he did not qualify for the Government move, and subsequently, he moved himself. Later the member was informed that he was entitled to move at the Government's expense and he filed a claim. However, the Claims Division denied his claim. Although the Staff Sergeant was entitled to be reimbursed for actual expenses incurred, he indicated that his only expense was the labor he expended in moving his goods. There is no provision in the Joint Travel Regulations for reimbursement of non-monetary expenses. Therefore, the denial of the claim was affirmed.
