A former member of the Army acknowledged having accepted a lump-sum severance payment which disqualified him from disability retirement pay. Pay records formerly held by the Army had been destroyed pursuant to a law concerning the disposal of records, but personnel files are retained at the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Completed forms and letters in these records are sufficient evidence to assist the Veterans Administration (VA) in its determination of entitlement to VA benefits.
