Highlights

An advance decision was requested concerning reimbursement of travel expenses incurred by a reserve officer who returned to his overseas residence while on leave during a period of active duty training (ADT) before reporting for a temporary assignment. He may not be reimbursed for travel expenses incurred while traveling on leave for personal reasons. He was entitled to travel allowances only for himself for travel to the temporary duty station and to travel reimbursement for use of commercial aircraft since orders directing travel by military aircraft "if available" were not applicable to his travel within the United States. He was not entitled to dependent travel under his ADT orders since his assignment to extended active duty had not been determined, but he was entitled to travel per diem until notified of extended active duty orders.
