Highlights

A retired member of the Navy requested review of the denial of her claim for basic allowance for quarters for her dependent mother for a period during 1950, contending that the allowance was disallowed because of her mother's failure to sign a dependency affidavit. The disallowance of the claim was sustained since the evidence available indicated that the mother failed to meet the statutory requirement that she reside in the member's household and in light of the fact that that requirement was suspended on the date that the allowance was reinstated. The claimant also failed to present clear and satisfactory evidence of the validity of the claim.
