YOUR LETTERS OF AUGUST 23 AND SEPTEMBER 8, 1962, CONCERN AN INFORMAL INQUIRY TAKEN BY OUR ATLANTA REGIONAL OFFICE AS TO YOUR DUTY STATUS FOR THE PERIOD MAY 29-JUNE 4, 1961, WHICH RESULTED IN THE WITHHOLDING BY THE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE FROM YOUR FINAL SALARY AND LUMP-SUM PAYMENT DUE UPON YOUR RETIREMENT ON AUGUST 24, 1962, OF A SUM SUFFICIENT TO COVER THE COMPENSATION FOR THE FOREGOING PERIOD OF ABSENCE AS WELL AS THE TRAVEL EXPENSES INCURRED DURING THAT PERIOD.
