The Honorable George P. Schultz

The Secretary of State:

By letter of September 7, 1988, the Procurement Executive, Department of State, on behalf of the American Embassy, London, requests my concurrence in the omission of the "Examination of Records by Comptroller General" clause from a proposed contract with the organizer of the 6th International Food and Drink Show (IFE 89). The proposed fixed price contract is valued at 52,679.29 pounds sterling. In support of its request, the Embassy notes that the contract price is based on fixed, published rates, which would be paid by all parties in like circumstances.

Based on the above information, I concur with the request to delete the "Examination of Records by Comptroller General" clause (FAR 52.215 1) from the proposed contract with the exhibition's organizer.
