U.S. Sentencing Commission--Compensation of Staff Director--Authority for Metitorious Awards Program

The U.S. Sentencing Commission requested GAO's opinion as to whether the salary for the grade GS-18 Staff Director of the United States Sentencing Commission is limited to the basic pay level V of the Executive Schedule, and whether the Sentencing Commission is authorized to pay performance bonuses and incentive awards to its staff in meritorious cases.
