Response Concerning Possible Violations of Section 509, Public Law 87-125

GAO was asked to respond to letters concerning the possible violation of Section 509 of Public Law 87-125. The letters suggest that radio and television announcements in support of the President's foreign trade legislation with reference being made to the "new 'E' banner" and listeners being invited to write to the Department of Commerce for more information constitute a violation.
