Decision on A Rental to Be Charged over The 30-Year Period of A Proposed Lease to The Chapel of The Astronauts, Inc.

GAO reviewed the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) proposed lease of land to the Chapel of the Astronauts, Inc. for the construction of a nondenominational chapel funded by public entities. GAO found that the adjacent land is currently used for the Visitors' Information Center at the John F. Kennedy Center. The lease would be for 30 years and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers appraised the land and concluded a fair rental rate for its use.
