A Veterans Administration employee requested reimbursement for relocation expenses, contending that he was competitively selected from a list of qualified eligible employees and therefore should have been eligible for reimbursement. GAO held that although the employee was chosen on a competitive basis, his relocation was not in the interest of the Government since he was transferring to essentially the same job with the same promotion potential. Accordingly, the request was denied.
