Highlights

The Social Security Administration requested a decision regarding a transferred employee's claim for reimbursement for the installation of a radon gas control system prior to the sale of his house. GAO held that the claimant was not entitled to reimbursement, since the expenses for operating or maintaining a home were considered home maintenance costs, which could not be reimbursed under federal travel regulations. Accordingly, the claim was denied.
