New Directions at the World Bank: An Interview With Barber B. Conable

This article, which appeared in the GAO Journal, No. 8, Winter/Spring 1990, presents an interview of the President of the World Bank Group, focusing on: (1) the Bank's progress in reducing poverty and promoting economic development; (2) growth of the Bank's lending programs; (3) developing countries' enormous international debt and other economic problems; (4) multilateral lending policies; and (5) global interdependence.
