Highlights

The Department of the Interior requested a decision concerning an employee's claim for reimbursement for expenses he incurred incident to a delay in selling his former residence when the General Services Administration terminated a contract with a relocation services contractor. The claimant also requested an extension of the 2-year period for purchasing a new residence. GAO held that: (1) the claimant was not entitled to reimbursement, since there was no authority to reimburse expenses incurred as a result of a relocation service contract cancellation; and (2) Interior should adjudicate residence transaction extension. Accordingly, the claim was denied and the extension request was remanded to Interior.
