The U.S. Customs Service requested a decision concerning an employee's claim for reimbursement for rental car expenses for personal local transportation and househunting incident to his transfer to Hawaii. GAO held that the employee was not entitled to reimbursement for the rental car expenses, since regulations prohibited expenses of local transportation incurred for any purpose during occupancy of temporary quarters. Accordingly, the claim was denied.
