The Times and Space: An Interview With Michael Collins

This article, which appeared in the GAO Journal, No. 4, Winter 1988, presents a round-table discussion of the status and future of the nation's manned space program, focusing on: (1) the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) development of a strategic plan for the civilian space program; (2) whether NASA should send unmanned probes into deep space, return to the moon, or go to Mars; (3) the prospect of making the Mars effort an international program; (4) space militarization; (5) the future of commercial space aviation; and (6) space shuttle safety.
