A transferred Social Security Administration (SSA) employee claimed reimbursement for rent he paid while living in his former residence after he sold it incident to his transfer. GAO held that SSA properly denied the claim, since the: (1) applicable regulations limited reimbursement to temporary lodging expenses the claimant incurred after he left his former residence; and (2) claimant did not provide evidence of any circumstances which forced him to remain at his former residence beyond his intended departure date. Accordingly, the claim was denied.
