Highlights

GAO reconsidered a claim for a deceased Air Force member's widow's survivor benefit annuity. GAO had held that the claimant was entitled only to a reduced annuity, since she was also entitled to compensation from the Veterans Administration, based on her prior marriage to another service member. GAO held that a recent court ruling allowed full payment of a survivor benefit annuity to a widow even though she was also entitled to compensation based on her first marriage. Accordingly, the claim was allowed.
