[FBI Employee's Claim for Temporary Quarters Subsistence Expenses as Miscellaneous Expenses]

The Federal Bureau of Investigation requested a decision regarding a transferred employee's claim for temporary quarters subsistence expenses (TQSE) for a period of time in which his daughter remained in temporary quarters after he moved into permanent quarters. The claimant contended that the expenses qualified either as TQSE or as miscellaneous expenses. GAO held that the expenses did not qualify as: (1) TQSE, since entitlement to TQSE ended at the point the claimant occupied permanent quarters; or (2) miscellaneous expenses, since GAO denied them under the TQSE provisions. Accordingly, the claim was denied.
