Highlights

A transferred Air Force employee requested reconsideration of his disallowed claim for household goods storage expenses. GAO had held that the claimant was responsible for the costs he incurred for storage in excess of the statutory time limitation. In his request for reconsideration, the claimant contended that he was entitled to a waiver of the time limitation, since: (1) an agency official allegedly informed him that the government would pay all storage costs; and (2) his assignment for long-term training away from his duty station kept him from establishing a residence. GAO held that the claimant was not entitled to reimbursement for storage costs beyond the maximum period, since there was no authority to disregard the statutory regulations or waive the time limitation. Accordingly, the claim was disallowed.
