[Decision Concerning Army Employee's Claim for Household Goods Storage Expenses]

The Army requested an advance decision concerning a transferred employee's claim for reimbursement for expenses he incurred for the storage of his household goods. The employee contended that he was entitled to reimbursement for the actual storage charges assessed by the carrier. GAO held that the employee was entitled to reimbursement on a commuted rate as established by statute and not for his actual expenses. Accordingly, the claim was denied.
