GAO commented on a bill to discontinue or amend certain requirements for agency reports to Congress and promote cost savings and reduction of paperwork burdens. GAO found that certain provisions of the bill may: (1) limit necessary congressional oversight for certain programs as well as Congress' ability to determine if the programs are operating within the law; (2) eliminate requirements for important financial information on special trust funds to be sent to the Treasury and Congress; and (3) modify requirements for information on other financial commitments of the United States.
