GAO responded to a letter concerning whether the Executive Director of the Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations is entitled to carry over any annual leave in excess of the normal limit from one year to the next. GAO found that: (1) the Executive Director is not subject to the exception to the limitation on leave accumulation for individuals in the federal Senior Executive Service; and (2) a federal employee's annual leave is limited to a maximum accumulation of 30 days (240 hours) occurring in a year.
