[Exemption of WIC Program Fund Accounts Under P.L. 99-177]

In response to congressional interest, GAO commented on the exemption from reduction of the food program for women, infants, and children and the commodity supplemental food program under the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act. GAO noted that the Office of Management and Budget and the Congressional Budget Office considered both programs to be exempt from reduction except for administrative expenses and agreed with this determination.
