Highlights

A decision was requested as to whether a Marine Corps member could receive a per diem allowance for a period during which he was assigned to a temporary duty station which was also his permanent residence and home of selection. The member was assigned to the temporary duty station while awaiting retirement processing. GAO held that, since the member was commuting to the temporary duty station from his permanent residence, he could not be paid a per diem allowance.
