Highlights

The Defense Logistics Agency requested an advance decision from GAO concerning a Government employee's claim for reimbursement of medical expenses incurred during a fitness-for-duty examination. GAO found that the Government may pay the costs of X-rays and laboratory work for such an examination, since the medical services were performed for the benefit of the Government. Accordingly, GAO directed that the employee receive payment without further documentation in view of her statement that she had not received reimbursement from any insurance company.
