Intergovernmental Audit Forums--Joint Conference Report

The proceedings of the third biennial forum of Federal, State, and local officials were summarized. Forum objectives included: exchanging views; resolving issues that could become problems; promoting the acceptance and use of specific audit standards for government; and promoting coordination and cooperation between forum members and their audit organizations. Some of the topics covered included: the single audit concept; the Inspector General concept; fraud, waste, and abuse; performance auditing and appraisal; staff development; relations between the news media and auditors; indirect cost concerns; and planned revisions of government audit standards.
