The directory of Federal audit organizations is intended to aid in the development of intergovernmental cooperation by facilitating the interchange of information among audit investigative groups. Federal auditors and investigators are located throughout the United States, primarily in Washington, D.C., in the 10 Federal regional cities, and overseas. Over $753 million was provided for the operation of the audit and/or investigative groups during fiscal year 1979. The 54 organizations listed reported a total of 19,040 personnel in their audit and investigative components, including support staff.
