Request for Payment Under Commuted Rate System for Shipment of Household Goods
B-193133: Apr 24, 1979
- Full Report:
A certifying officer at the Department of Energy questioned the adequacy of receipts for the weight of household goods that were transported incident to an employee's change of station. The employee transported his household goods by a U-Haul truck and a private truck from Ohio to Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The receipts he submitted from a private wrecking company failed to certify the identity of the vehicle by its tare weight (vehicle alone) and gross weight (vehicle and goods). Under applicable regulations, such receipts are not proper weight certificates to support payment of the commuted rate. However, no objection was made to payment by the agency of the actual expenses shown by the claimant.
