The Defense Logistics Agency requested an advance decision concerning an employee's overseas relocation expenses. The employee was transferred from one permanent duty station overseas to another, whereupon he incurred expenses in the settlement of his unexpired lease. Although this type of expense would be reimbursable in the United States, it was held that settlement expenses of an unexpired lease are limited to situations where the old and new official stations are located within the United States, its territories or possessions, Puerto Rico, or the Canal Zone. Therefore, payment may not be allowed.
