Claim for Lodging and Travel Expenses While on Temporary Duty
Highlights
An advance decision was requested concerning an employee's claim for reimbursement of certain expenses for periods of emergency leave and absence for medical reasons during a temporary duty assignment. The claim for lodgings expense during absences from temporary duty was not allowable because it was not determined that there was no alternative to retaining lodgings. The employee may be reimbursed for travel and subsistence expenses up to the point of abandonment of his temporary duty assignment for medical reasons during a nonworkday break, but only to the extent of allowable expenses he would have incurred by remaining at the temporary duty station. Travel to and from the temporary duty station to pick up personal belongings was personal and not reimbursable.
