Request for Reimbursement of Travel Expenses for Temporary Duty While on Annual Leave

An employee appealed a settlement denying claims for reimbursement of certain travel expenses incurred while on temporary duty in Hawaii. The employee was authorized to perform official business while on annual leave and was reimbursed for travel expenses incident to the official business. Reimbursement for travel between the official duty station and Hawaii was not authorized. The employee was entitled to per diem only for periods of duty and not for intervening weekends. He also was not allowed reimbursement for an automobile used for annual leave since rental of the automobile was only authorized for official business.
