Amendment of Travel Orders to Authorize Extension of Temporary Quarters Subsistence Expenses

An Authorized Certifying Officer of the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, requested a decision regarding an employee's claim for subsistence while occupying temporary quarters incident to a permanent change of station. The employee was entitled to reimbursement for the full 42 days spent in temporary quarters since existing regulations contemplate approval of an extension of temporary subsistence for up to 30 days in addition to an original 30-day authorization for such expenses.
