Request for Temporary Quarters Subsistence Expenses

The Chief Finance and Accounting Officer requested a decision as to whether an employee's claim for temporary quarters subsistence expenses may be paid to an employee who moved into the house he rented to his parents after his transfer from Germany to Maryland. He claimed allowance for the $9 per day he paid his parents for the 30-day period authorized for temporary quarters expenses. The employee's statement did not provide convincing proof of intent that his quarters were in fact temporary; the claim was denied.
