Overpayment of Pay and Expenses During Erroneous Appointment

The agency requested concurrence with its proposal to forego collection of erroneous payments of salary and relocation and travel expenses paid to an erroneously appointed employee. Since the employee took steps that led to a proper job appointment, collection of erroneous salary payments may be waived. Reimbursed travel and relocation expenses incurred in anticipation of the appointment may be retained since the actual appointment was subsequently approved.
