Agency Recommendation for Rescission of Contract

Subsequent to award, the contractor alleged an error in its bid and requested permission to withdraw the bid. Since the contracting officer suspected a possible mistake in the low bid and failed to obtain an unequivocal verification of the bid price from the bidder, he did not adequately fulfill his verification duty, and there was not an adequate basis to support the award of the contract. The administrative recommendation for rescission of the contract was approved.
