Reimbursement of Nonprofit Institution for Interest Costs

A nonprofit institution claimed an amount representing interest charges which it paid in financing its participation in the Special Summer Food Service Program for Children under contract with the Department of Agriculture. The interest costs may be reimbursed in spite of the general rule against reimbursement of such costs since applicable regulations and the contract do not preclude reimbursement. The agency should determine the extent of expenditures incurred.
